Cuban born of Chinese parents, the Chong brothers never imagined their world would turn upside down after their mother first open a restaurant in Carson, California (at the time called ‘Golden Star’), since each of them had totally different aspirations. But as time went by and the restaurant did well, they gave the restaurant business a second look ----and never looked back.

By the time the Chong brothers got involved in the business, the original restaurant their mother had opened was transformed into a Chong’s. In 1993 the second store was opened in Shoreline Village, Long Beach. Others followed in Costa Mesa, Hermosa Beach, Gardena, Manhattan Beach and Redondo Beach (the latter two as China Grill and Ws China Bistro).

The enthusiasm and love for our food in the various restaurants continues to grow each day, and all of us at Chong’s want to express our heartfelt gratitude to all our customers for their wonderful support.
